CHARACTER ANALYSIS:
Chiyoko Watanabe entered the professional wrestling industry the same as many other girls, bright-eyed and hopeful as she pursued a dream. After graduating from the 2012 Class of young lionesses at the Joshi+ promotion, she was pushed into a faction with her fellow graduates, a faction of idols that would sing and dance with as much flashy appeal as they could muster; having changed her name to Chi?Chi Yoko to meat the aesthetic. Joshi+ never saw anything particularly special in her, making pet projects and future stars out of her stablemates while she stayed low on the card, performing in the opening multi-woman tags and the occasional third in failed trio championship bouts. She was contempt for the first few years but during 2016 she started to show changes. She'd opt-out of their usual dance numbers, wrestling matches with signs of frustration, annoyance, anger. Despair. She would eventually turn on her faction, driven mad with all the singing and dancing like everything was fine. She had given up with her spot and fell into despair, and despair gave her a new lease on life. She became the catalyst for this new philosophy, one that spared no one from suffering their own personal despair in her wake. Everything about her changed in the weeks that followed. Her look became more gothic, her method of speech changed to ever-shifting tones of quiet and calm to loud and frantic, and her mind became dark, grim but at the same time, blissful to her. She no longer held things as sacred, everything is expendable, even her own well-being; safety is not a priority for the newly-christened JUNKO. She left Joshi+ to Joshi Extreme Takeover, aligned herself with KAGUYA-Gun for one reason and one reason alone; spread despair to all that need it.
That proved to be a fruitless pursuit for a long time. She achieved very few meaningful victories since joining the faction, and those very few did not lead her to the point she felt she needed to be. Repeated losses to Midori Miyamoto made her feel trapped in her own never-ending cycle of despair. It was only when she defeated Tarah Nova at Cinderella Story 2020 when she realized the only way to change that destiny is to not take it for herself as a follower, but as a leader. She took it upon herself to usurp KAGUYA and took her faction from her, promising that now they'll no longer be a laughing stock of a faction. They'll be the threat they were always meant to be. They will be DESPERADOS.
