[ We are welcomes to the show with Kavinsky’s “ProtoVision” playing over the P.A. system, the chants of “WE ARE VAN-GUARD! *clap clap clap clap clap* WE ARE VAN-GUARD! *clap clap clap clap clap*” filling the arena from the Los Angeles natives. The camera pans over them as we transition over to the commentary desk. ]
Mark Stephens: With the chaotic climax to the inaugural chapter of VANGUARD Pro, we are back here tonight in the Globe Theatre and, as you can hear, we are back in high demand! Hello everyone, I am Mark Stephens and joining me as always is the ever charismatic Chet Kensington! Chet, you were here beside me for We Could Be Juggernauts and witnessed the carnage that ensued to close the night of incredible wrestling, how are you holding up?
Chet Kensington: Let me tell you something Mark, I wouldn’t miss coming back to this for the world and it seems the VANGUARD faithful in attendance tonight can say the same thing! We witnessed, as you said, a night of adrenaline-pumping action, some of the best in the scene today, and it culminated with a full-scale riot that had building security working for their pay. Who knows if this building would still be standing if security wasn’t able to finally separate the roster?
Mark Stephens: We are in the fall out of that night of animosity, the landscape has been set. But before we kick into action tonight, we have received word that Vernon Tressler has an official statement regarding last shows events. We’ll take you now to Rhett Sweeney.
[ Rhett Sweeney stands in the center of the ring as “Protovision” dies down, the crowd however do not. He raises the microphone to his lips. ]
Rhett Sweeney: Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome… THE BENEFACTOR OF VANGUARD PRO!!! VERNOOOOOOOON TREEEEEESLEEEEER!!!
[ “Welcome to the Real World” by Gun plays over the P.A. System as the always well-suited Vernon Tressler emerges from the curtain, making his way down the ramp, flanked by members of the roster and security guards between them. ]
Mark Stephens: Looks like Vernon wants to address the situation not only to the crowd and viewers watching at home, Chet, it looks like he is going to put the roster on notice too!
Chet Kensington: And rightfully so! As exciting as it is to see a slow-motion car crash, you don’t always wanna be involved in it.
[ Vernon enters the ring, taking Rhett’s microphone as roster members line themselves around the ring, security standing between all members. Vernon raises the microphone as “Welcome to the Real World” dies down. ]
Vernon Tressler: Before we get into tonight's festivities, I have quite a few things that need to be addressed concerning VANGUARD Pro and its immediate future. The first being the obvious. Looking at the faces around the ring, you will see quite a number of old faces among some new ones. But you will also notice an absence of quite a few men and women you saw on the previous show. Due to the calamity that came with the riot of the last show, many of them were rendered either injured or felt this to be an unsafe work environment for them. We wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors but, as the old adage goes, the show must go on.
[ He takes a pause as the crowd show their approval. ]
Vernon Tressler: Now, as far as production has been over the last month is concerned. As you have noticed we’ve had two shows cancelled. These were due to some of the previous roster members mentioned earlier and their exodus, as well as negotiations with the Globe Theatre about the property damage created during said riot. While those shows were cancelled, and I do apologise for that, we are back in full force and going to continue to be that way for the foreseeable future.
[ Another pause as the crowd show their approval. ]
Vernon Tressler: That being said, we are here to deliver to you all a show. We are here to give you what wrestling has been needing for a long time and that’s a shot in the arm. You want great wrestling? You want death defying stunts? You want hard-hitting action? You need not look further than here in VANGUARD Pro! Only the strongest willed competitors make it here and only the strongest of willed will thrive here!
[ A passion in his voice as he delivers these lines cause the crowd to cheer loudly. ]
Vernon Tressler: The men and women around this ring are some of the bravest competitors in this industry and some of the best. Although we are not going to allow another riot to break out again, whatever they do in a sanctioned match is entirely up to them and what they have signed up for! And they have signed up to deliver what you’ve all been craving and that is the best professional wrestling on the planet! That being said, let’s get to what you came here to see! Rhett, the floor is yours! And all of you the VANGUARD faithful, enjoy the show!
[ Vernon raises a hand to the crowd before handing the microphone back to Rhett Sweeney as the roster at ringside make their way up the rampway and back behind the curtain. Rhett stands in the center of the ring, lights dimming as he waits for the crowd to finish their chants before a bell sounds, a figure from ringside stepping into the ring and shadow boxing in the corner behind him. ]
Rhett Sweeney: The following contest is scheduled for one fall!
Crowd: One fall!!!
Rhett Sweeney: With a 10-minute time limit! Already in the ring! From Fort Pain, USA, weighing in at 199 pounds! THE LIMB COLLECTOR! DOOOOONNYYYYY!!! DRAAAAAGOOOOON!!!
[ The lights raise to show Donny Dragon, wearing his traditional Gi with an embroidered dragon on the back, shadow boxing before making his way to the center of the ring and bowing to all four sides. ]
Mark Stephens: This young made one hell of an impression last show defeating AXL, showing us exactly why he is called the Limb Collector. Unfortunately, he has other commitments elsewhere and tonight may be the last night we see him in a VANGUARD ring.
Chet Kensington: It goes to show what talented individuals find themselves in VANGUARD Pro. Though he made a great first impression, it may not be his last. His opponent tonight is another hungry youngster looking to ruin the send off party.
[ 'Immigrant Song' by Led Zeppelin plays as Kai Terblanche emerges from behind the entrance curtain, a scowl on his face as he looks over the crowd, a seething hatred pouring from his aura as he makes his way to the ring. ]
Rhett Sweeney: And his opponent! From Johannesburg, South Africa, weighing in tonight at 226 pounds! HE IS THE RAZORBLADE! KAAAAAAI!!! TEEEERBLANCHEEE!!!
Chet Kensington: Fittingly names the Razorblade, Kai Terblanche presents quite a cutting presence in the room. He isn’t here for fun, he isn’t here to earn anyones respect, he’s here to dish out punishment and leave a mark on the face of VANGUARD Pro!
Mark Stephens: The tenacious South African, residing in England where he cut his teeth as a competitor, is not someone with a whole lot to say or a whole lot to explain. If nothing else, he’s looking to send Donny Dragon off in pieces.
[ Both men stand in their respective corners Howie Dewitt checks both competitors for hidden items. Both competitors clean, he asks both of them if they are ready and, on their approval, he calls for the bell. ]
[ DING! DING! DING! ]
The match begins with some chain wrestling, dominated by Donny Dragon as his knowledge of judo throws is put on display, continuously getting the better of a growing-frustrated Kai. Refusing to look a fool, Kai would counter a waistlock attempt with a sick elbow into the side of Donny’s head that takes him by surprised and has him groggy, quickly following up with a short-arm clothesline that give Kai the upper hand. It isn’t his for long though, as a second clothesline attempt is evaded, countered with a German Suplex that sends the Razorblade into the canvas with a heavy impact. Kai pulls himself up in the corner, Donny is there to meet him with whatever he has in mind, but a craft Terblanche suckered him in, grabbing him by the band of his trunks and pulls him shoulder-first into the corner post that has the crowd cringing at the sound of bone on steel.
A point of attack made prominent on Donny’s right shoulder, Kai quickly exploits this weakness with various attacks to the shoulder, including some vicious stomps and grinding his boot into it, much to the displeasure of the crowd to whom he retorts with a loud “Shut the fuck up!” only raining more displeasure towards him. Taking his time and enjoyment dishing out the punishment, Kai pulls Donny up and takes his time to execute an Inverted facelock backbreaker before going for a cover, forearm pressed against Donny’s jaw.
Howie Dewitt: ONE! TWO! T--
Only a two count. Kai doesn’t seem too happy with it despite his clear upperhand, deciding to climb to the top rope to deliver something to get the job done. He waits for Donny to raise to his feet, looking like an lion stalking a wounded gazelle before leaping from the top rope for a Battering Ram Shoulder Tackle. But Donny finds life in a moments notice, leaping up and catching Kai with a Guillotine Choke! Kai is in the center of the ring with nowhere to reach for the ropes, the hold locked in tight and Kai seemingly fading in the clutches of Donny Dragon. Kai starts to show a little more life, despite the fans chanting for him to tap out, lifting Donny up with him as he gets to his feet and is eventually able to power him off and make some distance! Donny swings high with a roundhouse kick but Kai is able to evade, catching him in the jaw with a stiff knee lift on the turn around! Donny is in trouble as Kai lifts him up for the firemans carry and rolls through with a Rolling Samoan Drop!
Kai looking to finish off his opposition, pulling Donny up and lifting him over his shoulder, arms grasped for a crucifix powerbomb! Charging forward for the turnbuckles! No, Donny wriggles free and lands behind Kai, who turns around and is met with a Rolling Elbow, followed by a European Uppercut, followed by a spinning backfist, knee to the midsection and an axe kick to finish off a vicious sequence of strikes, lighting up Kai Terblanche! Kai is seemingly knocked out on the canvas and, with his bad shoulder now nagging him, Donny has to try and put him away as quick as possible, he grabs Kais legs, looking out to the crowd to get their strength to execute the move he calls The Brig! Crossing the legs over for the Sharpshooter -- WHAT!? KAI WAS PLAYING POSSUM! KAI DELIVERED A THUMB TO THE EYE OF DONNY, CAUSING HIM TO LET GO AND STUMBLE AWAY, GIVING KAI ENOUGH TIME GET BACK TO HIS FEET, LOCK IN A INVERTED DDT, LIFT HIM UP AND DROP HIM DOWN -- BOTTOM OF THE WORLD!
Howie Dewitt: ONE! TWO! THREEE!!!
[ DING! DING! DING! ]
[ “Immigrant Song” begins to play as Kai Terblanche quickly rolls out of the ring as Donny sits on the canvas in disbelief, tongue in cheek as Kai makes it halfway up the ramp, tapping at his cranium to mock Donny about outsmarting him. ]
Rhett Sweeney: The winner of this match, KAAAAAAI!!! TEEEERBLANCHEEE!!!
Mark Stephens: Like a snake in the grass, Kai struck when Donny least expected it and it garnered him a victory over the ever-game Donny Dragon!
Chet Kensington: And you know what, fair play to him! Donny wasn’t prepared for this match with other obligations in mind, you could see it in his expression before the match started, and Kai took advantage. It’s not always about working harder, it’s about working smarter. The smarter man won tonight.
Mark Stephens: Regardless, a very talented individual is this Donny Dragon kid. Wherever he goes, he has a lot of potential in him to accomplish big things. Best of luck to you, kid.
[ Donny takes a second to absorb the chants of “please don’t go”, reluctantly bowing to all four corners again before waving to the crowd before rolling out of the ring and towards the back. ]
The scene begins at a Cryostasis Chamber as a few Doctors are seen working on their computers, monitoring the vitals of whatever is inside.
“A lot has changed since the last time we saw him. We finally have the technology good enough to fix him back to the way he was, if not better. The cybernetic enhancements were just phase 1. We have added all the mannerisms and characteristics of a wrestler that I fondly remember. We called him…. Christopher Sabertooth.” Said the narrator.
The doctors notice that the heart rate spiking as the doctors line up near the Cryostasis chamber.
“This world needs professional wrestling. It’s a hobby of mine that I am too old to pursue. But…. My creation… My child… He will bring the change in the landscape of professional wrestling. He is the chosen one. He is the last REAL wrestler left in this world and I will do my best to preserve it. It is time… It is time you rise. It is time you finally fulfil your destiny. It is time for you, Christopher Sabertooth to wreak Havoc to all your opposition. It is time!” Said the Narrator.
The Cryostasis chamber slowly opens up as the Liquid Nitrogen and all other preservants flood out of the chamber as the man inside is finally visible to the audience. The man looks identical to Christopher Sabertooth as he slowly opens his eyes. He walks out of the chamber and looks around as the doctors look on in amazement. He walks up to a reflective glass seeing how he looks before letting out a faint smirk.
“VANGUARD… It is time for the REAL wrestler to let his presence known. Nobody is ready for my creation…. NOBODY IS READY FOR CHRISTOPHER SABERTOOTH!” Said the narrator as the camera pans out through the reflective surface to show an old man look at his creation with satisfaction.
The scene slowly fades to black as the words “CHRISTOPHER SABERTOOTH… MAKING HIS DEBUT TONIGHT” pop up on the screen.
